Key terms and definitions used throughout Valent.

A

AI Qualification

The automated process of analyzing an RFP to determine fit, complexity, and likelihood of success. Produces a qualification score and go/no-go recommendation.

Approval Workflow

A configured sequence of reviews and sign-offs required before content is finalized.

C

Collection

A grouped set of items extracted from documents, such as Requirements, Deliverables, or Deadlines.

Collective Intelligence

The accumulated knowledge from all proposals processed through Valent, used to improve AI recommendations and drafting quality over time.

Contributor

A user role with permission to draft and review content but not manage Decision Rooms or users.

Decision Record

A log of team inputs, rationale, and timestamps for go/no-go decisions on RFPs. Provides compliance traceability.

Decision Room

A collaborative workspace in Valent dedicated to a single RFP response. Contains resources, collections, and the proposal document.

F

Fit Score

An AI-generated rating (0-100) indicating how well an RFP matches your organization’s capabilities and historical success patterns.

G

Go/No-Go

The decision to pursue (go) or decline (no-go) an RFP opportunity. Valent provides AI-powered recommendations to support this decision.

I

Item

A discrete piece of information extracted from a document, such as a single requirement, deliverable, or deadline.

Knowledge Engine

Valent’s underlying system that captures, stores, and leverages institutional knowledge from your proposals to improve AI performance.

Pipeline

The view showing all RFPs organized by stage (Incoming, Qualified, In Draft, Submitted, Won/Lost).

Prompt Assist

A feature allowing users to guide AI output with natural language instructions (e.g., “Make this more technical”).

Proposal Manager

A user role with permission to create and manage Decision Rooms, assign work, and approve content.

Proposal Workspace

The editing environment where users draft, refine, and finalize proposal content.

Q

Qualification Score

A numerical rating assigned by AI indicating an RFP’s match potential based on historical data and current analysis.

R

Resource

A document uploaded to a Decision Room, such as an RFP, addendum, or reference material.

RFP (Request for Proposal)

A document issued by an organization soliciting bids from vendors to provide a product or service.

S

Section

A discrete part of a proposal document, typically corresponding to a heading in the RFP structure.

Slash Commands

Keyboard shortcuts in the editor (e.g., /table, /image) that quickly insert content or perform actions.

SSO (Single Sign-On)

Authentication method allowing users to log in using their company’s identity provider.

V

Version Control

The system that tracks changes to documents over time, allowing comparison and rollback to previous versions.

Viewer

A user role with read-only access to proposals and analytics.

W

Win Rate

The percentage of submitted proposals that result in a win. A key performance metric tracked in Valent.

Workflow

The sequence of steps involved in processing an RFP, from ingestion through submission.
